Principal Product Manager, Marketplace

The Principal Product Manager must have a strong data orientation and marketplace insight, ready to dive deep into data and act decisively to iterate and improve our products. This role requires balancing a bias for action with strategic foresight, ensuring that decisions advance our marketplace goals. A core responsibility of the Principal Product Manager is evaluating high-impact opportunities, determining alignment with our strategic objectives, articulating compelling cases for action, and rigorously driving progress. Responsibilities

  • Use data, both qualitative and quantitative, to understand marketplace dynamics and customer needs deeply.

  • Drive product vision, strategy, technical requirements, and ensure timely delivery aligned with business goals.

  • Build and prioritize roadmaps and requirements to address key marketplace challenges and opportunities, from MVPs to full-scale solutions.

  • Work collaboratively with engineering, data science, design, marketing, sales, operations, and executive teams to test, measure, and drive results.

  • Drive feature or product adoption, with a particular focus on optimizing marketplace interactions and engagement.

  • Operate autonomously against business and team objectives, readily rolling up sleeves to address challenges.

  • Set targets proactively, define and track success metrics aligned with business objectives, and adjust based on evolving insights.

  • Lead periodic business reviews with stakeholders and executive leadership to assess and communicate progress.

  • Evaluate marketplace expansion opportunities, whether through new features, partnerships, or acquisitions, and propose paths to enhance platform capabilities.

  • Conduct competitive marketplace research and analysis.

  • Represent and advocate for marketplace participants' needs and identify emerging trends, effectively communicating these insights to align stakeholders.

  • Partner with design to create high-performance, conversion-oriented marketplace UX that enhances user outcomes.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of product and/or business leadership experience, specifically focused on marketplace platforms or similar technical products.

  • Superior analytical and quantitative skills, with a proven track record of using data and metrics to test hypotheses, confirm assumptions, and measure success in a marketplace setting.

  • Self-starter with a strong bias for action, able to drive results in a fast-paced, technical environment.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, particularly in translating complex marketplace insights.

  • Comfortable managing multiple competing priorities and navigating ambiguity in a high-speed environment.

  • Proven ability to identify, analyze, and solve ambiguous technical problems with high attention to detail.

  • Excellent collaboration skills that build trust across all levels and functions.

  • Management experience is a plus.
