IT Automation Engineer
Overview
The IT Automation Engineer is responsible for improving Nerdy’s internal technology operations through automation, systems thinking, and service optimization. This role focuses on streamlining Service Desk operations, enhancing user support workflows, and implementing scalable device management solutions.

Qualifications
Required:
2+ years of experience in IT operations, service desk support, endpoint management, or systems automation.
Strong scripting skills in Python and OS-native languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash).
Experience automating IT workflows using low-code tools or platform-native automation.
Familiarity with service management tools such as Jira Service Management, ServiceNow, or Freshservice.
Understanding of ITSM concepts including service workflows, SLAs, and change management.
Comfort working with structured data (e.g., spreadsheets, logs) for troubleshooting and process improvement.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong customer service mindset.
Preferred:
Experience managing endpoints across macOS, Windows, and MDM platforms.
Familiarity with integrations between platforms such as Okta, Google Workspace, and Slack.
Experience maintaining internal runbooks or automation libraries.
Prior experience supporting executives and senior leaders in an IT capacity.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with the ITS Service Team to streamline IT operations through workflow analysis and process automation.
Build and maintain automations for onboarding, access provisioning, and service workflows across IT-managed platforms.
Develop telemetry and success tracking for all automation projects to improve visibility and reliability.
Deliver improvement initiatives based on service desk data trends, operational audits, and SLA metrics.
Support device lifecycle processes, including imaging, inventory management, and compliance via MDM systems.
Ensure automations align with security best practices and minimize risk in internal tool provisioning.
Create and maintain documentation for repeatable workflows, automation patterns, and support resources.
Provide hands-on support to HQ-based employees as needed, including executive support.
